Colour Lightwave Institute Welcomes You
Dinshah Health Society: Spectro-Chrome System
Greetings from our family to yours. You have reached Dinshah Health Society - Spectro-Chrome System home page, the preeminent spectrum-based health system. Attuned Lightwave therapy is a safe, natural, inexpensive home-use system that does not rely on any drugs or chemicals, with their uncertain, sometimes severe or fatal side effects. This system has been in use since 1920, and was used in a major medical center in Philadelphia, PA for many years (for documentation, see the article by Dr. Baldwin in the article links section of this website). This system utilizes safe, specific colored light for particular health issues with a simple, low-powered lamp and readily available plastic colour filters.

If you reached this Website by chance, it will be worthwhile to read the articles and FAQs on this Website, written to enlighten the open-minded to the possibility of using this therapy. Spectro-Chrome Attuned Lightwave is now in a form more easily applied than ever, even in a home setting.

On the other side of the coin, you may find websites thoroughly ridiculing Spectro-Chrome and the theory behind it.
Such naysayers may well have to change their tune: NASA and the U.S. Navy are utilizing near-infrared (close to the end of red visible colour) which heals injuries in a considerably shorter time, and are investigating the value of other colours, including blue light for sleep issues in long duration manned space flight. Also from the US NIH: Red light at wavelengths 600 nm to 760 nm, as well as near-infrared at wavelengths 780 nm to 1000 nm, are capable of influencing a myriad of activities in living cells and tissues. Chemical effects of these wavelengths stems from the absorption of photons by chromophores in the mitochondria, and its reactions with respiratory oxygen and intracellular water.

For decades, hospitals have used "blue-light therapy" on jaundiced babies. While they are looking you can be doing, using the 105 years' experience behind Spectro-Chrome color therapy.
Further, while Spectro-Chrome cannot overcome every health condition; it does not cause temporary or permanent disastrous side effects, up to and including death, as so many medical drugs are known to do.
Dinshah Health Society, an IRS-recognized nonprofit organization (with no paid employees), has been advancing Spectro-Chrome since 1975, primarily through Let There Be Light, a book written for non-professionals.
Though results cannot be assured for a particular case, it has proven effective for a surprisingly long list of health problems. Hundreds of testimonials and reports (arthritis, burns, constipation, fever, heart conditions, hemorrhoids, measles, etc.) are available, many written by practitioners.
For fifty years and three generations, we’ve provided books, guides, and community resources for individuals who want to learn, practice, and better understand this historic color-therapy method.
Our complete list of publications is shown on the shop page, including Let There Be Light in English, Spanish, German and Chinese language versions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Dinshah P. Ghadiali (1873–1966), pictured on the left, was an early 20th-century researcher and inventor best known for developing the Spectro-Chrome system of color therapy. Originally trained in engineering and natural sciences, he became fascinated by the effects of light and color on human physiology. In the 1920s he introduced Spectro-Chrome, a structured method that used specific color frequencies with the belief that they could support the body’s natural balance and recovery.
Over his lifetime, Ghadiali wrote extensively, taught courses, and founded organizations devoted to light-based wellness practices. While his ideas remain outside mainstream medical practice, his work continues to influence modern color therapy communities and inspired the creation of the Dinshah Health Society, which preserves and teaches his system today.
Darius Dinshah is the founder of the Dinshah Health Society and the son of Dinshah P. Ghadiali, the originator of the Spectro-Chrome system. He has spent decades preserving, organizing, and publishing the historical teachings, writings, and documentation related to the Spectro-Chrome method. His work focuses on education, archival preservation, and making this century-old system accessible to the public.
Spectro-Chrome is a historical color-light system developed in the early 1900s by Dinshah P. Ghadiali. It uses a simple lamp and colored filters to create specific light environments. Some individuals incorporate these color-light sessions into their personal wellness or relaxation routines.
Chromo light therapy (often called chromotherapy or color-light therapy) is a general wellness concept that uses different colors of light to create certain atmospheres or emotional experiences. Across cultures and history, colors have been associated with various symbolic, sensory, or mood-related qualities.
There is no scientifically proven “most powerful healing color.”
Different color-light traditions assign different meanings or symbolic qualities to colors, but these are interpretive, not medical.
In Spectro-Chrome, each color has a specific historical meaning within the system, but none are considered medically superior or guaranteed to affect any health condition.
Even for general wellness light exposure, caution is advised for individuals who:
- Have light sensitivity
- Take photosensitizing medications
- Have conditions like lupus or certain eye disorders
- Experience migraines or seizures triggered by light
- Have concerns about light exposure during pregnancy
- Are under the care of a physician for any medical condition
Anyone with medical questions should consult a licensed healthcare professional before starting any light-based practice.
Membership supports the preservation and continuation of the Spectro-Chrome legacy. Members help fund educational materials, publications, and archival work that keeps this century-old system available to future generations.

Your membership directly supports the work of an IRS-recognized nonprofit with no paid employees.
It depends on what “work” means.
- Scientifically:
Chromotherapy is not recognized as a medical treatment, and it is not proven to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. - Wellness and personal use:
Some individuals enjoy color-light environments for relaxation, atmosphere, meditation, or general well-being. Personal experiences vary widely and are subjective. - Historically:
Systems like Spectro-Chrome have been used by individuals and communities for over 100 years, mostly as part of personal wellness routines.
No color-light system should be used as a substitute for medical care.
